Info from Chardonnay’s trainer…….

Chardonnay is a sweet and energetic girl about two and a half years old. She adores her people, walks & jogs, and playing tug. She's quite mellow in the house and will gather a few toys and curl up at your feet if you don't want to play. She does very well in a crate and shows no signs of separation issues. She has learned basic commands like heel, sit, down, place, kennel-up, out and leave-it. . She is intelligent and inquisitive. She is living and playing with another large dog which helps her burn off some of her energy. Her ideal home would be with someone who will exercise her mind and especially her body. She has boundless energy. Chardonnay has a bubbly personality. She has a little trouble controlling her excitement when her people come home or wake up in the morning but she can be quickly redirected and settled. She has the ability to get along and play with other dogs when proper introductions have been made but can be reactive when she sees other dogs. She's very loving, sweet and really tries so hard to make her people happy; she's just still figuring it all out.

Her forever home should be someone willing to continue training with her as she's very intelligent and energetic and needs mental exercise in addition to physical. She has the ability to be an awesome and very successful sport dog, so the main concern for finding a new home should really be making sure the new owner is excited about training with her. Her ideal situation would be a family that is willing to do a sport with her (agility, dock-diving, obedience, lure-coursing, protection sport, etc.) to help focus her energy and intelligence in a productive manner. She can go to a home where owners all work away from the home as she's very good on her own. I think with the right dog and proper (slow, closely monitored) introductions, going to a home with one other LARGE dog could be a good thing. The other dog would have to also be energetic, but very easy going, well-behaved and happy-go-lucky.

She has shown no signs of possessiveness over food or toys when it comes to people. The real caveat is that she still has the urge to jump & nip when excited which a new owner would have to continuously monitor and work on until self-control becomes more of a habit than a secondary thought. For this reason we do not feel like she would be a good dog for a home with young children. 

Definitely not a dog for someone that likes "letting dogs be dogs".
