Hi, my name is Nia, and I'm a beautiful 1.5 year old sable GSD who was transferred from a shelter where I was surrendered because my front left leg was misaligned. I was "on the clock", running out of time, and FRGSR was happy to accept me and take me to an orthopedic specialist who operated on my leg and got me to a much better place. I'm now recovering in a foster home where my foster mom will need to restrict me to leash walking only as I recover. Prior to my surgery, I was a happy, playful girl who had a huge interest in ball-chasing, but the volunteers had to limit my exercise sessions so as not to make things worse with my leg. Even on the day of surgery, I went bounding into the vet hospital like nobody's business. Things with my leg are much better now and my future looks very bright. Potential adopters will need to continue with my leash walking for several more weeks, and once I've been cleared by my surgeon, I'm hoping to go for a full-throttle run to retrieve a ball. I'm great with people and I've done well around other dogs that I've met. I need a home without cats. If you are interested, please go to adoptagsd.org and submit an online application.
