Hi, my name is Tesla, and I'm a beautiful approximately four year old GSD who was transferred from another rescue who asked FRGSR if they could help me find a loving home. I was originally found abandoned in a home with four other dogs where our former owner left us to fend for ourselves. The great news is, we were all rescued, but ironically, even after all this, I arrived at FRGSR needing to lose some weight.  I'm now living in a foster home that I share with three other dogs and I'm doing fine with them. I'm house trained, crate trained and I walk nicely on leash. I LOVE to play ball and I get really excited if you say those two words. Between walks and ball play, I'm starting to drop some excess weight. When it's bedtime, I curl up in a dog bed and sleep though the night while snoring steadily. I do get a bit anxious (not destructive) when my humans leave the house, so having a calm canine companion might be best. I'm a velcro dog who just loves to be near my humans. If you're looking for a loving companion, that's me! My foster mom is looking for an adopter who will continue with my exercise routine to to help me get back to a healthy weight. Update: My foster mom noticed that I was limping lately, and it turns out, I have some arthritis in my right leg. The veterinarian recommended pain meds and they've helped a lot. It's a delicate balance, because I still have more weight to lose, but my exercise sessions can't be rigorous due to my leg. I do love to go for long walks and/or on moderate hikes. I'm hoping to find an adopter who will continue with this type of routine and in return, I'll be a loyal companion.
