Hi, my name is Eddie, and I'm a handsome, two year old GSD who was transferred to FRGSR from a shelter where I was surrendered by my former family because I may have been too much dog for them to handle. Prior to this, I was found as a stray, then bounced from home to home in a very short time before landing in a shelter, and all these changes have taken a toll on my ability to trust people. However, the shelter staff didn't seem to struggle with me and the volunteers with FRGSR have not had issues either. I love getting outside for play sessions and so far, I've shown no reactivity towards other dogs, and I may be able to live with another calm, well balanced dog, but I would do okay without a canine companion. I love to play ball with the volunteers and go for walks in the park. In my prior home, I was highly protective of my turf, and I will not be the best option for folks who want a dog they can put in the middle of a backyard BBQ gathering or who have people coming and going a lot. I will need an adopter who understands the protective nature of our breed. If you are interested, please go to adoptagsd.org and submit an online application. My adoption fee is $350. Update: Recently, a FRGSR volunteer had me in a public setting and I did not do well with strangers. The volunteers are working with me on this by making me remain seated when a stranger approaches, and I'm learning that if I obey, then I receive praise and if not, a correction. FRGSR would like for me to go to a home with a 6' fenced back yard, no kids and very few visitors. I'm a dog who needs time to learn to trust. When company comes over, I will need to be crated. I am extremely loyal and highly protective of my pack and turf.
