When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life.

Hi, my name is Raider and I'm a handsome three year old GSD who was surrendered twice to the same shelter, because I was just too much for either adopter to handle (not enough GSD experience).  The shelter asked FRGSR if they could help me find a confident, GSD-experienced adopter who will provide me with the leadership and mental/physical stimulation that I need. Shelter reports state that I am protective of my food when other dogs are present, but I've never caused injury to a person or another animal. The volunteers with FRGSR are spending time with me, alone for now, and they've found that my main love in life is chasing a ball, so they take me out with a Chuck-it and run me hard. I know this game well, and I do a great job of bringing the ball back and dropping it so the fun can continue.  They've observed that I have interacted with dogs through a fence without barking, lunging or growling. Even so, they plan to take things very slowly with me while doing face-to-face introductions. I will need a very strong handler who has had experience dealing with strong-willed GSDs in the past. I may be able to live with one well balanced other dog. Also, I did devour stuffed toys in my prior homes, so I will not only need very durable toys in my next home, but I'll also need to be supervised if they're available. I am house-trained and crate trained. I'm a dog who is easily aroused and will need a handler who will redirect me rather than man-handle me as a method to get me to obey. I'll need praise for what I'm doing right so I can learn the difference between right and wrong. FRGSR recommends a home without young kids. My adoption fee is $350.
