Please consider that some of these dogs have been abandoned or ignored by their previous owners, having little interaction with someone who cares about them.

When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life.

Tembo is a really handsome four year old GSD who had a rough start in life coming from an isolated hoarding situation where he lived with many other poorly cared for GSDs. He was transferred to FRGSR where his life of learning how to interact with people, obey commands, walk on a leash, etc. began. We were very fortunate to find Tembo a wonderful home with a loving family, but sadly, one of the neighbors has recently presented tremendous challenges to the owner and he chose to surrender Tembo back to FRGSR to protect him. The family is heartbroken - particularly their 11 year old son who was best buddies with Tembo. From what we have observed so far, Tembo has a good amount of energy, he's comfortable with kids and adults and he would likely enjoy living with an active, outdoorsy family. He does have a chase instinct, so he is not well suited for dog parks, but he does live with in a foster home with a GSD a GSP and a Boston Terrier and he gets along fine with all of them. He is very protective of his pack and turf and he would likely do best with an adopter who has experience with large breed, intelligent dogs. He's house trained, crate trained and knows basic obedience.
