Please consider that some of these dogs have been abandoned or ignored by their previous owners, having little interaction with someone who cares about them.

When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life.

Orton is a very handsome two year old sable GSD whose owner had to relinquish him because she adopted him as a puppy and then he grew up and  her landlord thought he was too big for apartment living. He has not been socialized well with dogs or people, and he tends to prefer women over men initally and we have been told he loves cats! He does have some anxiety issues that we have been addressing. Because of this, he will likely do best in a quiet home with kids who are at least 10 years old.  Orton is getting settled in his foster home and he's learning how to live as part of a pack and he's doing great! He has a gentle, playful spirit about him and he's house trained. He does not care for being crated but with some canine companions around, he has done fine being left uncrated while his foster folks aren't home. As a result, we are hoping to adopt him to a home where his owner either works from home or is retired and has another dog for company.  Dog parks are too overstimulating for him, but he does love to chase a frisbee. He has a thunderous bark that serves as a great attention getter. This boy is the epitome of loyal!
