Please consider that some of these dogs have been abandoned or ignored by their previous owners, having little interaction with someone who cares about them.

When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life.

Rocco is a really handsome five year old GSD who acts much younger than his age. Sadly, he has spent his life on a chain until being transferred to FRGSR. He has lived peacefully with a Chihuahua, who was an inside dog and he was left outside.  He knows some basic commands including sit, down and shake. His former owner reported that he gets very excited in the presence of a cat, so a home without cats or dogs may be best. He does need leash work, but this is understandable given that he was chained outside, and he's excited to have the chance to explore the world!  He has lived with children and has done well. His foster mom is working on his house manners. He is enjoying "the finer things in life" such as sleeping on a soft dog bed and having his humans close by. He has managed to remove just about every toy from the toy box with the excitement like that of a kid in a candy store. He loves to go for long walks with his new foster pack and learning where he fits into his new pack hierarchy. Rocco would do best with a confident handler who will provide him with a consistent routine including a good dose of daily exercise. He also needs a home with a secure fence. If you're looking for a new hiking partner, Rocco would LOVE to accompany you!
